The Seeds of Justice Network has issued a thoughtful reflection on tensions between Pope Leo and the Trump administration which have sparked an important question for people of faith: What do we do when politics don’t align with our beliefs? We are called for a renewed vision of faith in the public square—not one rooted in partisanship, but in the Gospel. Our role as Christians is to bring forward core teachings like human dignity, peace, justice and care for the vulnerable. Some believers feel pulled toward political loyalty, while others are urging a return to faith-first principles, especially when political rhetoric or actions conflict with the teachings of Christ. Church leaders remind us that the Church is not meant to be a political arm. Its mission is to proclaim the Gospel—even when that message challenges those in power. We are not called to choose sides; we are called to choose Christ.
