The Season of Creation is an annual ecumenical celebration of prayer and action to nurture and protect God’s creation. This year, it runs from September 1 (World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation) until October 4 (Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi). The Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help are sponsoring “Immersed in Living Water,” an outdoor prayer service, Wednesday, September 2, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Walker Lake in Kirkwood Park. Register at www.fsolph.org/events/ for this event and others, including a Zoom screening and discussion of the film “Chasing Time,” which chronicles our changing planet through photos of melting glaciers and impact on atmospheric change; a documentary film, “Single-Use Planet,” which explores the political, economic, health and environmental impacts of single-use plastics; and a lecture by Missouri Botanical Garden’s Climate Change Education Coordinator on “Watershed Wonders,” discussing how water moves through St. Louis and the impact of climate change on water systems, as well as how we can use green infrastructure to mimic nature in our homes, businesses, and in the community. More information on each of these events can be found on the above-mentioned website.
